Art & Art Therapy
Welcome to the artist keeps going, where art intersects with mental health and human connection. I'm MoBella (moh-bell-uh) (she/they/mobella) and I am delighted to connect with you. As a Chicago area artist and art therapist, I value people and suicide prevention.
As an art therapist, I utilize an eclectic theoretical framework with a person-centered, trauma-informed, somatic experiential approach to clinical counseling. Art may beautifully express what one may not have the words for. Experience with: neurodiversity, hormonal-based depression/anxiety, ifs, parenting, lgbtqia+ affirming, dbt, self-compassion framework, theatre, complex post-traumatic stress disorder, and learning disorders to name a few. I believe we all carry unique pain and grief(s) within ourselves. Grief processing is foundational to my therapeutic research and approach. Making art can be a powerful tool to transform internal pains.
I make ab/ex sculptural paintings with metalsmithing techniques inspired by people's energy. Art has been a transformative tool in my own life as someone who experiences PMDD/PME (premenstrual dysphoric disorder/premenstrual exacerbation) (for more information go to: iapmd.org).
